FAQ's
  • What do the Disciples believe?

    Like most Christians, Disciples affirm:
    • Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God, and offers saving grace to all
    • All persons are God’s children

Beliefs and practices usually associated with Disciples include:
    • Open Communion. The Lord’s Supper, or Communion is celebrated in weekly worship. It is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
    • Freedom of belief. Disciples are called together around one essential of faith: belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Persons are free to follow their consciences guided by the Bible, the
Holy Spirit study and prayer, and are expected to extend that freedom to others.
    • Baptism by immersion. In baptism the old self-centered life is set aside, and a new life of trust in God begins. Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored.
    • Belief in the oneness of the church. All Christians are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service.
    • The ministry of believers. Both ministers and lay persons lead in worship, service and spiritual growth.

    Our Identity

We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.
As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

    Our Vision
To be a faithful, growing church, that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice.
    – Micah 6:8

    Our Mission
To be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps “to the ends of the earth.”
    – Acts 1:8

    Our Confession
As members of the Christian Church, We confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world. From the Preamble to The Design of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). This confession is the opening paragraph in the Preamble to the Design of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It is used by many Disciples congregations in worship as an affirmation of the faith of the church throughout the ages – not as a “test of fellowship,” but as a statement of faith that identifies the Disciples’ commitment to and place within the universal and ecumenical church.

  • What is the dress code?

The dress code for worship is simply... come as you are! When you enter the doors at FCC Rowlett, you'll find people in slacks and skirts to jeans and shorts. We believe that whether you're in a suit or t-shirt, you belong. You'll often find congregants with coffee, Bibles or mobile apps, and so much more. We pride ourselves in the immense diversity in this community of faith. The only thing missing is you!

  • What is the service like?

We are excited to have you in worship! Once you enter, you can expect a beautiful blend of contemporary worship songs and traditional, familiar hymns you know so well. Each week varies, utilizing our Praise Band NewLight, special solos and instrumental guests, and much more. While worships may vary, most weekly services include opportunities for ministry, prayer time, a children's moment, and an invitation. Communion is celebrated every Sunday and everyone is welcome at the Table of our Lord. We always look forward to scripture and sermon in the middle of our service by our Senior Minister or Guest Preacher.

We offer many "special" services throughout the year. We hope you can attend one of these in the time ahead such as Christmas Eve Service, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and others as they may arise.

Moreover, we hope you feel at home when you worship with us!

  • What do I need to do for membership?

Membership at FCC Rowlett is simple and can be very personal to you. Our only requirement is that you love the Lord and accept Him as your Savior. You may come forward during our invitation portion in worship or simply talk with our Senior Minister if you are not comfortable walking in front of the congregation. This experience is about you, your family, and your personal journey with the Lord.

Following your confession of faith (affirming your decision to follow Jesus) we would be happy to discuss how you may best serve your gifts within FCC Rowlett and the community, what those gifts may be, or discuss baptism. There is never any pressure to officially "join" our church home... we are thankful to have you with us. We hope you will reach out to our pastors or elders to learn more about what it means to follow Christ, to utilize your spiritual gifts, or get any of your questions answered.
