The Children's ministry will provide a safe, nurturing environment
Our nurseries are available for children ages birth - age 2. We have two loving, paid staff members who care for our babies and toddlers during both worship services and the Sunday school hour.
Babies, birth - 18 months are in the infant nursery and children ages 18 months - age 2 are in our toddler nursery.
Both nurseries offer Christian nurturing by trained staff and volunteer helpers. The nurseries are bright and cheerful and full of educational, religious and fun toys for all ages!
10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Classes meet in Fellowship Hall. The children focus on one particular scripture or story each month. They approach the scripture through the various learning forms. It's fun, it's educational and it gives the children a variety of venues to enrich and deepen their understanding of scripture as well as their own relationship with Christ.
Wednesday - 6:30pm
After the Children's Moment in each service, our children ages 4 - grade 2, are led to classroom #1 where they will experience a great worship "kid style" with scripture, stories, music, prayer, snacks and loving adult and youth leaders. Parents may pick them up in classroom #1 after services.
Summer Camps are getting bigger and better each year as we plan new events and activities. The camps are designed for fun and fellowship. Children from all over the North Texas Area focus on strengthening their relationship with God. Below is a list of the camps available. Discovery Camps I & II- Held at Disciples Crossing Camp in Athens, Texas is for children who have completed second and third grades accompanied by a parent, grandparent or guardian. This is a three day camp.
JYF Camp- Held at Disciples Crossing Camp in Athens, Texas is for children who have completed fourth and fifth grades. This is a five day camp.
Grand Camp- Held at Lake Brownwood is for ages 4 - 10 accompanied by a parent. This is a weekend camp.
The Christian Church, Disciples of Christ also offers camps for youth, young adults, men, women and congregations as a whole.
Each year during the summer, we spend a week with children Kindergarten through fifth grade, teaching them to worship through the arts. This year, WAC was held June 13th-June 17th. We learned all about CREATION and put on two services sharing what we learned on Sunday. We even did a special tribute for Father's Day!
Each day of camp, different elements of worship...drama, song, dance, scripture, art, music, mime, puppets, sign language and prayer were used to tie together the theme of Creation.
The culmination of Worship Arts Camp is the following Sunday Morning when all of these elements are used as the children lead our worship in both services. What a wonderful experience!!
